4 Cups Sauerkraut
1 Medium Onion Sliced
1/2 teas. Watkins Caraway Seed
1/4 teas. Watkins Black Pepper
1 1/2 Lbs. Frankfurters (i.e. hotdogs, weiners, etc.)
2 Watkins Bay Leaves
1/2 Cup Grated American Cheese
2 Cups Seasoned Mashed Potatoes (Use Watkins
Soup Mixes in the water instead of instant potatoes or Watkins
Omelet & Souffle Seasoning in real potatoes to taste)
1 Tbsp. Melted Butter or Margarine
Heat oven to 350 F (moderate). Combine partially drained sauerkraut, onion, Caraway Seed and Pepper. Cut frankfurters in 1/4 inch discs. Place Bay Leaves in bottom of 2 quart casserole sprayed with Watkins Cooking Spray. Cover with layers of seasoned sauerkraut mixture and frankfurters, ending with sauerkraut. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered in (350 F) oven for 20 minutes. Remove cover. Trim top of casserole with a decorative border of potatoes.
Brush with melted butter. Increase heat to (425 F - hot). Bake uncovered until potato border is lightly browned. (Makes 6 servings).
