Picadillo (Castilian Hash)

16 Oz. Ground (90% or more lean) Turkey or Beef
1 3/4 Cups Water
3 Tbsp. Watkins Beef Soup Mix
1 Cup Finely Chopped Onion
1 1/2 Cups Diced Raw Potatoes
1 Cup (8 Oz. Can) Tomato Sauce
1 Tbsp. Chopped Almonds
3 Tbsp. Raisins
1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar Twin
1 Tbsp. Watkins Chili Seasoning
1/2 teas. Watkins Garlic Flakes (or Granules)
1 1/2 Tbsp. Watkins Parsley Flakes
1/2 teas. Watkins Seasoning Salt

In a large skillet, combine meat, water and beef soup. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes or until meat is browned, stirring often. Add onion, potatoes, and tomato sauce. Mix well to combine. Stir in almonds, raisins, Brown Sugar Twin, garlic, seasoned salt, and parsley flakes. Continue cooking for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender, stirring often. Serves 6 (3/4 cup)

Each serving equals: 191 calories, 7 gm Fat, 16 gm protein, 16 gm carbohydrates, 561 mg sodium, 20 mg calcium, 2 gm fiber

DIABETIC EXCHANGES: 2 meat, 1 vegetable, 1/2 starch/carbohydrate
