Swedish Ginger Cookies

1 Cup Butter or Margarine
1-1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Egg
1-1/2 Tbsp. Watkins Orange Peel
2 Tbsp. Corn Syrup or Molasses
1 Tbsp. Water
3 - 1/4 Cups Flour
2 teas. Baking Soda
2 teas. Watkins Cinnamon
1 teas. Watkins Ginger
1/2 teas. Watkins Ground Cloves

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg to this mixture and beat until fluffy. Stir in orange peel, corn syrup or molasses, and water. Mix well and set aside. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Stir into creamed mixture. Chill one hour. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on lightly-floured surface. Cut dough into desired shapes with floured cookie cutter. Place cookies one inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375*F for 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet while still warm.  Decorate with sugar sprinkles or icing.  Yields 8 dozen cookies.
