White Cake

2 1/4 Cups Sifted Cake Flour
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Vegetable Shortening
3 1/2 teas. Watkins Baking Powder
2 teas. Watkins White Vanilla
1 teas. Salt
4 Egg Whites

Combine flour, sugar, milk, shortening, baking powder, vanilla and salt in large mixing bowl. Beat at low speed for 30 seconds scraping bowl occasionally. Beat at high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Add egg whites and beat at high speed 2 minutes more. Pour batter into two greased and floured 9 in. round cake pans. Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pans 10 min. Remove from pans and cool completely.
